Oh, My Aching Back

    Thursday, May 22, 2008, 08:35 PM [General]

Today was the first time I received a massage in years...yes, literally years! I went into a local day spa for a relaxing 1 hour prenatal massage. When the massage therapist asked why I had chosen to get a massage today, I told her about my aching back. I said that I knew that it was a part of the joys of pregnancy, but at this point something had to be done. She completely understood and then began my blissful massage starting with my sore legs and feet and working her way up my aching back all the way to my arms. Aah..it felt so nice. It was just what a pregnant woman in her last trimester needed.

After my hour long massage that could have lasted hours more, I got up and sipped orange infused water and snacked on decadent chocolates. Needless to say that my body was in heaven. Then, I got in my car to drive home and my dear friend, my aching back came back to me in no time at all. Even as I sit here and type I cannot get away from my aching back and I have come to terms with the fact that it is here to stay.

I'm not sure what the moral of this story should be. Perhaps it should be to advise pregnant women to not spend money on prenatal massages when it is only a very temporary fix or maybe the moral is that I need to just accept the fact that this aching back is here and for good reason. Whatever the moral of the story is, I haven't learned it because today my feet started to swell so I booked a pedicure!

    It's in the Water

    Tuesday, May 6, 2008, 10:56 PM [General]

So there must be something in the water lately because I swear everyone is PREGNANT! From my friends and family to neighbors and strangers, everywhere I turn, there is a big belly staring right back at me!

Perhaps I am just more keen to notice women in their pregnancy since, as you know, I too am pregnant but could it be that there is really something in the water?

Look at Hollywood...is it a coincidence that dozens of major celebrities' bellies are popping out all over the place? Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Alba, Halle Berry and Elizabeth Rohm are just a handful of the women of Hollywood who have added 'mommy' to their resumes.

So is it all just a coincidence or is something really in the water?

The Upside of an Expanding Belly

    Friday, April 25, 2008, 12:59 PM [General]

So I have finally figured out the upside of my ever growing belly...more clothes! A girl can never have enough clothes and since my body is constantly changing, it gives me an excuse to get togethor with my girlfriends for a day of shopping.

Not that I need an excuse to go shopping, but at least now I truly need more clothes!

Ah, the joys of impending motherhood

    Wednesday, April 16, 2008, 07:30 PM [General]

I think that since my world (and body) is currently revolving around this little girl in my belly, I will begin (and continue) my blogging voyage with this impending motherhood.

A whole new emotion comes into play when you are pregnant (planned or not). It can only be explained as a mish mash of several emotions including 1)joy 2)anxiety 3)fear 4)happiness 5)gratefulness 6)forgetfullness and 7)moodiness. These 7 emotions are all rolled into one new emotion that takes you on a roller coaster throughout pregnancy.

I guess this new emotion is chalked up to hormones, just like everything else is when you're pregnant!
