Allison Sudol aka A Fine Frenzy is currently on tour around the world. Opening for her is new artist, Ferras. Ferras' debut, "Aliens & Rainbows," comes out April 1. As you may have heard (if you are an American Idol watcher) Ferras' song, "Hollywood's Not America," was used as the bye-bye song in the Hollywood segments of the show. If you're a fan of early Elton John, Scissor Sisters, or Bowie, you'll love Ferras!
There are a number of fantasic films out in theatres right now and there definitely isn't enough hours in the week to go see them all. So in an effort to let the rest of the DivaVillage community know what they should see first or second or even third, I'm asking you all to cast your vote on your favorite film out in theatres right now!
I have to say that my vote is for 21. I have fallen in love with Jim Sturgess ever since I saw him make his big debut in Across The Universe. If you haven't seen it yet then you definitely should, it recently came out on DVD and is a fantastically artsy movie with a strongly emotional storyline and did I mention it's a musical reimagination of classic Beatles songs? Here's a clip from Across The Universe to get you started!
So normally my blogs encompass major motion picture releases and popular girly shows such as One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl, but this time I am going off the beaten path for a new favorite. The critically acclaimed show Battlestar Galactica, which was originally a show from 1978 and was remade as a mini-series that took off and began a regular series, is now reaching it's final season.
When you first hear "Battlestar Galactica," the brain tends to sway towards ridiculous sci-fi plots with a mainly male audience and cheesy effects, but that is definitely not the case here. While BSG is definitely a sci-fi show, the drama and complex human emotions that are the main basis of the script, coupled with special effects that are so good you can't even believe the show has a budget to follow, makes this a show worth watching whether you're male or female, ten or ninety years old. (Plus, who says girls can't like sci-fi or play video games?!)
Over the past four years, Battlestar Galactica has pulled in 12 emmy nominations and 1 win for both the mini-series and regular series, as well as the coveted Peabody Award in 2006. The producers knew from the very beginning that the mini-series was sure to be a hit and on a hunch had all the lead actors sign seven-year contracts when they were hired. Entering it's fourth season, however, BSG has begun it's end on the creators' own terms. The show is promising a final season that will glue the audience to their seats as well as knock them right off their seats. That's entertainment!
Catch up with the show by watching The Sci-Fi Network's weeklong Battlestar Galactica marathon beginning Monday March 31st. Mon-Fri from 8am-6pm watch the series unfold as it counts down to the beginning of the end with the first episode of the new season kicking off at 10pm friday night on The Sci-Fi Network. Also be sure to take a look at Battlestar Galactica: Revelations, a 30 minute look at the series up till now with the producers and Battlestar Galactica: The Phenomenon, a discussion of the show by celebrity fans including Seth Green, Brad Paisley, and Joel McHale.

MTV Films has finally created a project that critics are loving. The new film Stop-Loss opens this Friday, March 28th and stars some of Hollywoods most promising (and hunkalicious) actors. Ryan Phillippe, Abbie Cornish, Channing Tatum, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Ciaran Hinds comprise a cast that deliver amazing performance after performance.
STOP-LOSSPolicy –
The retention of soldiers in the service beyond their expected term.
Using a loophole in soldiers’ military contracts to prohibit servicemen
and women from retiring once their required term of service is
complete.
Also widely known as a “Back Door Draft.”
Hey there all you entertainent fans! Making The Band 4 (Season 2) aired their big 2 hour season finale this past weekend and Diddy made his big announcement (which wasn't all that big, but more on that later). The girls and boys performed their new singles and we all watched as they began promoting their albums. A friendly wager was made between Danity Kane and Day 26 on who would sell the most iTunes downloads (their singles) the first week out. The proud papa, Diddy, grandly announced that the winner by a landslide was Danity Kane, of course.
Danity Kane's new album, Welcome To The Dollhouse officially hit No. 1 their first week out and a big congratulations to the ladies. Whether you enjoy their music or not, these girls are incredibly hard-working and completely invested mind, body, and soul, in their music. Check out the music video for "Damaged."
Day 26's first album hits stores today (tuesday Mar 25th) and the first week of sales is sure to be good. Diddy knows how to promote his interests and Day 26 is certainly high on the list. Take a look at the official music video for their first single "Got Me Going."
And let's not forget about solo artist Donnie Klang. While Donnie's album is taking a bit longer to finish, there is a definite first single. Watch this live performance of "Take You There" featuring Diddy from the finale.
The rest of the finale was filled with Q&A for the ladies, gents, and Diddy. Some of the relationships were cleared up and a couple of half-hearted sorrys were uttered but the best moment was definietly when Q officially "claimed" Dawn as his own and Dawn "claimed" Q back. Awwwwwww!
Oh, and Diddy's big announcement, which you can see at the end of Donnie's performace, is that there is going to be a Making The Band Tour. Not a big surprise and neither is an all new season of Making The Band which will be filmed during the tour. The ratings are just too good and I think Diddy is waiting for Aubrey and Donnie to try dating again and he has to get that on camera.
So what do you think of Danity Kane and Day 26? Who has the better first single? Let me and the rest of the community hear your thoughts!
