Multiple sources, including the New York Post and E! News, are reporting and confirming that 38 year-old diva Mariah Carey has married 27 year-old small screen actor Nick Cannon. The two were wed at the home Carey just bought in Eleuthera, the Bahamas.
Family members and friends are all phoning in their responses:
"Yes, we know," Linda Cannon told E!. "He called us and told us all about it. We
are happy for him. If that is what he wants then we are happy for him."
"They have been smitten with each other for days, weeks," a friend told the Post. "And she's always had a crush on him."
"Everyone is happy to see her happy," Carey's friend told The Post.
"And it could work out -" some people know each other for five years
and get divorced, maybe this is true instant love."
"There was no pre-nup - there wasn't time," said another worried source.
E! also confirmed with a rep for Jacob & Co. that Cannon popped $2.5 million for the 17-carat ring recently spotted on the Carey's left hand. Cannon was once engaged to model Selita Ebanks, though they broke up 5 months after getting engaged, and Carey has been married twice before.
I love Scarlett Johansson, so I didn't scoff when I heard that another actress was crossing the line into the field of all things musical. Normally, with the exception of the classicaly trained and Broadway babies, it goes downhill. With Johansson, I'm still on the fence, though I'm leaning toward the favorable field. Her debut album Anywhere I Lay My Head, out May 20th, showcases ten Tom Wait's covers and one original song. On the bright side of the spectrum, I love the fact that she didn't come out to conquer a pop princess title. The songs, although covers, have a very personal feel for Johansson, and don't read as studio written rhythms that demand club play. On the downside, her first single "Falling Down" doesn't give the listener a true sense of what her voice is capable of. I wish she had come out of the gate just a little stronger.
The video is artistically amazing. It follows Johansson through what appears to be a typical day, and as the song suggests, the glamorous life isn't always what it seems. An acting performance is of course necessary for the amazing actress that is Scarlett Johannson, and the overall effect deserves an award. Reminiscent of her film Lost In Translation and with the same feel of her other Golden Globe nominated works, the video just plain works. Check it out!

Jennifer Lopez has decided to show us the real "Jenny From the Block" with a new reality show on TLC. The singer will co-produce, co-create, and star in the series that follows her new life of juggling motherhood and career. The show will cover a launching of a new fragrance as well as other pursuits. “I’m looking forward to sharing this exciting journey together,” said Lopez, according to People Magazine.
“Jennifer is unbelievably passionate about life and will be an
incredible role model for our audience,” TLC President, Angela
Shapiro-Mathes said in a statement.
The show is currently in production but has no air date as of yet.
As far as movies go, I have definitely been craving some girl power. That's why the emergence of the sequel, Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants 2 is a such a wave of relief! The movie isn't due out till Agust 8th, but I'm counting down the days.
