WINEHOUSE AND WEST TAKE IT AWAY!
After months of hardship and public ridicule, Amy Winehouse and Kanye West have stolen the 50th Annual Grammy Awards. After weeks of dilemmas due to the writers strike, the Grammy's presented an awards show that was definitely needed by audiences.

Though she may have been in London the entire time, Amy Winehouse was, pardon the phrase, "in the house!" After recent troubles with her husband, Blake, and even defying her own anthem by actually going to rehab, Winehouse still managed to pull out a cheeky and sultry performance of "Rehab" live via satellite in London (4am London time). Surrounded by a small cabaret audience and her parents, Winehouse seemed absolutely astonished when she won Record of the Year. Winehouse was nominated for six awards and came away holding five.

Kanye West also provided audiences with something to tear up about. After awards show temper tantrums last year, you never know what West will do or say next. He seemed rightfully subdued however as he performed an electric glow-in-the-dark version of "Stronger," which then segued into a tribute to his mother, who unexpectadly past away last year. West, who was nominated for eight awards, walked away with four.
In a very surprising upset, Winehouse and West both lost album of the year to Herbie Hancock for River: The Joni Letters.
"You know it's been 43 years since the first and only time that a jazz artist got the album of the year award," Hancock said, then proceeded to honor "the giants upon whose shoulders I stand, some of whom like Miles Davis, John Coltrane ... unquestionably deserved the award in the past. But this is a new day, that proves that the impossible can be made possible."
